Renaissance Makeup goes avant garde!
I had so much fun creating a different kind of beauty look than I usually do. Especially because the photoshoot took place under water and the makeup had to be waterproof.
Beauty standards changed considerably during ages! Through Renaissance period, women loved thin eyebrows and pale skin. They used to paint their faces with a flour-based cream or to cover it with egg whites to whiten it. Their faces looked beautiful and angelic, but in fact all cosmetics were toxic, turning skin yellow over time.
Now days, I tried to recreate the Elizabethan beauty in my way using modern techniques and makeup products 😀
